Acne is caused by the clogging of pores which forms pimples, nodules, blackheads and whiteheads. It is most common in adolescents but can also occur to people at any stage in life. They can cause scars that are permanent if they go ignored or untreated. Other acne treatments can be expensive and harsh, causing further irritation. There are affordable and effective natural treatments which are efficient and involve ingredients that may already be in your kitchen.

a)      Honey

Honey is manufactured by bees and is a sticky substance that is derived from the nectar of flowers. As the first natural beauty ingredient, honey has been used in the treatment of a number of skin conditions. There are many nutrients that are found in honey including potassium. Potassium has anti-bacterial attributes. This increases the effectiveness of honey as a treatment for acne. When topically applied to the skin, the bacteria inside are attacked and suffocated by the potassium. This aids in faster healing of the spot.

Take the honey and apply it directly to the spot or as an overall face mask. Allow it to remain there for 25 minutes and then use lukewarm water to rinse it. Another way to prevent and heal acne making a honey acne wash that can be used two times a day instead of a regular cleanser. Mix ¼ cup of mild liquid soap, ¼ cup of honey and ½ cup of water. Gently stir it and wash your face as usual.
